As it was previously reported, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Ljubljana on an official visit. During the trip, the President held talks with Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar.

President Mirziyoyev also met with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob to discuss the expansion of multifaceted Uzbek-Slovenian cooperation and practical collaboration, particularly in trade, economic, and investment sectors. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing joint efforts in trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.

To reach the €500 million trade turnover goal, the two countries plan to boost mutual supplies of high-demand goods. Trade growth will be supported by the GSP+ preferential trade system and a newly signed agreement on standardization.

A plan for developing industrial cooperation will also be prepared, with a focus on technological modernization. Notably, Slovenia expressed support for its companies' plans to implement projects in Uzbekistan in sectors such as electrical engineering, instrumentation, pharmaceuticals, green energy, and smart agriculture. A special industrial park in Tashkent Region, managed by Inpark, has been proposed for hosting such European enterprises.

To establish structured cooperation in labor migration, the countries agreed to create a permanent expert group and develop the necessary legal framework.

Uzbekistan and Slovenia will also jointly explore opportunities for launching direct air links between the two countries and using the infrastructure of Slovenia’s Port of Koper to access the EU market.

To implement the agreements reached and the signed accords, the governments of both countries will adopt a comprehensive roadmap.

Following the talks, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Robert Golob signed a joint statement. A ceremony was also held in their presence for the exchange of the following bilateral agreements:

  • Exemption from visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders
  • Cooperation in education, science, and culture
  • Cooperation in transport and logistics
  • Cooperation in smart city management
  • Cooperation in standardization
  • Cooperation in water resource management
  • Cooperation in tourism
