Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan aim to boost bilateral trade to $1 billion by 2030

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to increase their bilateral trade turnover to $1 billion by 2030, as announced during a series of high-level meetings in Baku, including the 14th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the 3rd Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Regional Forum.
According to the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade (MIIT), bilateral trade has already grown by 40% since the beginning of 2025, with Azerbaijanās statistics placing the current volume at over $200 million.
The commission meeting, held on June 20, was co-chaired by Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistanās Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, and Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijanās Minister of Economy.
The two sides outlined a roadmap to reach the $1 billion trade target, focusing on increased trade volumes, mutual investment, and industrial cooperation projects.
Key areas of discussion included economic and trade cooperation, industrial collaboration, transport links, agriculture, and the food industry ā all considered pillars of the growing strategic partnership. The sides also addressed the development of regional transport corridors.
Officials highlighted progress in joint housing and tourism projects, the creation of a logistics hub, and the development of cotton and dairy clusters.
As part of cooperation between UzAuto Motors (Uzavtosanoat) and Azermash, Chevrolet vehicles and spare parts are being manufactured at the Hajigabul Industrial Park. In 2023, the foundation for a second auto plant was laid. To date, around 8,900 vehicles have been produced, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.
The Uzbek-Azerbaijani Investment Company is actively involved in financing 15 projects with a combined value exceeding $360 million.
The session concluded with the approval of:
- A joint action plan to boost bilateral trade,
- An industrial cooperation roadmap for 2025ā2026,
- And a schedule of reciprocal trade missions, which includes the opening of trade houses and showrooms in Tashkent and Baku.
A new Business Council will also be established to facilitate direct engagement between companies from both countries without intermediaries.
The third Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Regional Forum was attended by over 50 business representatives, and Laziz Kudratov held bilateral meetings with leaders of major Azerbaijani firms.
According to Trend, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is expected to visit Azerbaijan in early July, a move likely to further deepen ties.
