Mirziyoyev praises Aliyev’s leadership and Azerbaijan’s territorial reunification

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev shared their thoughts with the media following the conclusion of their high-level talks.

President Mirziyoyev expressed his genuine satisfaction with the wide-ranging reforms being implemented in Azerbaijan under President Aliyev’s leadership and the impressive achievements the country has made.

“You have fulfilled the age-old dream of your father and every Azerbaijani citizen — restoring your country’s territorial integrity. You are actively working on modernizing the economy and infrastructure of the reclaimed territories,” said President Mirziyoyev.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan is a reliable ally and strategic partner of Uzbekistan. The two countries share similar goals, visions, and aspirations. Their peoples are united by a long-standing bond rooted in shared history, values, language, and culture.

President Mirziyoyev commended the fruitful results of today’s second session of the Supreme Interstate Council and noted the significance of the key decisions and agreements reached during the summit.

He underlined the thorough preparations for this summit, which included the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum, an intergovernmental commission meeting, regional and university rectors’ forums, political consultations, and several cultural events — all of which were successfully held.

The talks placed special focus on the comprehensive implementation of the Treaty on Allied Relations between the two nations.

The two leaders reaffirmed their strong commitment to strengthening ties on the international stage and continuing mutual support. They noted the alignment of their positions on many pressing global and regional issues. In this context, President Mirziyoyev reiterated Uzbekistan’s firm stance on resolving all conflicts and disputes exclusively through peaceful and diplomatic means.

During the discussions, the parties agreed on practical measures to raise bilateral trade and investment volume to $1 billion in the coming years. A dedicated program to promote trade and industrial cooperation was adopted.

President Mirziyoyev also stressed that to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing efforts, the two countries will expand current cooperation formats and introduce new ones. These include establishing an Entrepreneurs’ Council and launching an Industrial and Economic Zones Forum.

The leaders paid particular attention to strengthening transport connectivity. They highlighted the active development of the Middle Corridor, which links both countries and provides access to other strategic directions. Since spring, electronic permits have been introduced along this corridor. As a result, the volume of Uzbek freight transported has increased by 25%, surpassing one million tons annually.

The presidents also noted progress in advancing a joint project to export “green” energy to Europe.

In addition, construction of the “Uzbekistan” Park will begin today in Baku, and the new building of Uzbekistan’s embassy in Azerbaijan will be officially opened.

At the same time, preparations are underway in Uzbekistan for the construction of an “Azerbaijan” Park and a unique Sea Breeze tourist complex.

Given that this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two brotherly nations, the parties agreed to jointly organize major events, concerts, and youth forums to commemorate the occasion.

In conclusion, President Mirziyoyev thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for supporting joint projects and initiatives, expressing confidence that the outcomes of this state visit would further strengthen allied relations and contribute to the sustainable development and prosperity of both nations and their peoples.
