Zelensky recalls ambassador to Uzbekistan as part of diplomatic rotation

President Volodymyr Zelensky has decided to end the diplomatic mission of Ukraine’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Mykola Doroshenko, as part of a routine rotation within the country’s diplomatic corps.

Ambassador Doroshenko announced the end of his term in Uzbekistan via a post on his Facebook page.

“President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, as part of the rotation of the diplomatic corps, has decided to conclude my mission in Uzbekistan. This is the highest form of trust from the leadership of my country and my people, and I have done everything in my power to live up to it,” he wrote.

He added that it had been an honor to represent and defend the interests of his country in Uzbekistan during one of the most difficult periods in Ukraine’s modern history.

“My duty was to speak about this reality, to convey the truth to Uzbek society, to explain how Ukraine lives today. I hope that, through my work, more seeds of truth will take root within the Uzbek public,” he said.

Mykola Doroshenko was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Uzbekistan in April 2020, and he presented his credentials to the President of Uzbekistan at the Kuksaroy residence in October of the same year.
