Tashkent launches AI center to combat traffic jams and enhance road safety

A new AI-based Situational Monitoring Center has been launched in Tashkent to analyze and manage traffic flows, aiming to ease congestion and enhance traffic safety across the city.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service, the administrative building of the Tashkent City Traffic Patrol Service brigade has undergone complete capital renovation and has now been officially put into use.

The overhaul was carried out to modernize the Traffic Patrol Service, strengthen its technical infrastructure, and provide improved working conditions for officers. The refurbished complex includes parking areas, administrative offices, service rooms, a meeting hall, a shooting range, a museum, a library, a cafeteria, drill and training grounds, and repair workshops.

In addition, a Computerized Situational Monitoring Center has been established to digitize road safety, prevent traffic accidents, and forecast traffic congestion using modern technologies and artificial intelligence tools.

The newly implemented Intelligent Transportation Platform allows for real-time monitoring, analysis, and smart management of vehicle flow.

As a result, the center is expected to reduce congestion in the city by up to 50%, save passengers’ time, lower the number of road accidents, accelerate emergency services' response times, and enhance decision-making effectiveness through accurate statistical data.

Furthermore, the Mayor of Tashkent has handed over 20 new Cobalt service vehicles to the Traffic Patrol Service and another 20 to the Patrol-Post Service. These vehicles are specially equipped by the manufacturer with advanced devices and cameras integrated directly into the Situational Monitoring Center.

The modern cameras installed on these vehicles are capable of identifying wanted individuals, stolen vehicles, and potential public safety threats, instantly sending alerts to the center. Additionally, the center has the ability to remotely manage and control all cameras installed in the service vehicles.
