A statement from Uzbekistan Railways addressed a fire that occurred in a maneuvering locomotive associated with the Afrosiyob high-speed train. The incident gained attention after a video showing the fire circulated on social media.
According to the statement, the fire was confined to the maneuvering locomotive used for auxiliary transport operations and did not affect the Afrosiyob train itself. The company confirmed that the train was not damaged and is scheduled to depart as usual.
Claims that there were passengers inside the burning locomotive were false. The fire occurred outside of a scheduled trip, and no passengers were on board at the time.
“Specialists quickly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire,” the company said.
It was emphasized that all scheduled Afrosiyob services will continue without any changes.
Uzbekistan Railways also noted that further details about the incident will be shared later.
