SF Airlines, a Chinese cargo carrier, has launched a new freight route connecting Lanzhou and Tashkent, according to Uzbekistan Airports.
The inaugural flight on the new route took place on April 2, with a Boeing 757 landing at Tashkent International Airport at 10:40 AM local time, where it was greeted with a traditional water salute.
At the initial stage, the cargo flights will operate twice a week, with a planned increase in frequency in the future.
On March 20, a new cargo terminal officially opened at Tashkent International Airport. The facility’s centerpiece is an 8,500 sq. m. warehouse complex with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons. It features 500 sq. m. of refrigerated and freezing storage areas.
The warehouse includes specialized storage for plants, live animals, valuable goods, food products, and pharmaceuticals, equipped with temperature sensors to maintain optimal conditions. The complex is also outfitted with modern shelving, lifting, and packaging equipment.
Additionally, the terminal features a three-story administrative building with an operations hall and an electronic queue system for cargo recipients. A large parking area is also available near the terminal.
