As it was previously reported, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with the “Atlas of Solutions” for Tashkent and New Tashkent — a five-volume document outlining unified standards for the architectural appearance of buildings and the overall development of the urban environment.

In an interview with Uzbekistan24, Tashkent mayor Shavkat Umurzakov shared that the city administration attracted $300 million in investment from the Chinese company China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). The funds will be allocated for the reconstruction of Shota Rustaveli Street, renovation of 200 kilometers of roads, and construction of four overpasses across the city.

President Mirziyoyev has instructed the government to amend relevant construction legislation. Road construction and repairs in Tashkent will now follow a new approach: extending from building to building, not just within the existing carriageway.

Back in November 2024, the Tashkent administration and CSCEC signed agreements on four major infrastructure projects worth nearly $1 billion.

As part of the first $300 million project, Tashkent’s road infrastructure will be comprehensively reconstructed. The plan includes modernizing roads and associated facilities, with over 200 professionals, including surveyors and transport engineers, to be involved.

More recently, the city administration confirmed that the Chinese contractor will carry out a phased reconstruction and modernization of 200 km of road infrastructure. The preliminary cost of this portion of the project is estimated at $198 million.
