Tashkent authorities to take noise control measures on ‘24/7 streets’
Locations for gastro streets were selected based on existing activity, the city administration stated.
As it was previously reported, Tashkent's First Deputy Mayor Bakhtiyor Haydarov announced the creation of 26 ‘24/7 streets’ spanning 40 km, along with the transition of 1,076 retail and service points to round-the-clock operations.
The Tashkent city administration has now issued clarifications regarding the expansion of commercial and service areas, emphasizing their role in driving the city’s economic growth.
Supporting business and urban development
The administration justified the initiative as an effort to:
- Create a favorable business environment
- Modernize urban infrastructure
- Improve access to goods and services
- Generate new job opportunities
The locations for ‘gastro streets’ were selected based on existing activity levels, meaning that many establishments in these areas were already operating until their last customer. Participation in the project will now officially grant them the right to operate 24/7.
Authorities believe that the introduction of round-the-clock commercial and service zones will allow businesses to operate more flexibly, catering to customer demands. A range of measures will also be taken to ensure the safety and convenience of visitors.
Ensuring safety and public comfort
The following measures will be implemented:
- Police presence, including local law enforcement and the tourist police
- More frequent cleaning and maintenance of public areas
- Modern restroom facilities and other public amenities
At the same time, the administration acknowledged the concerns of residents living nearby and is working on mechanisms to prevent excessive noise, overcrowding, and disruptions to public order.
Authorities also emphasized that stricter accountability measures will be enforced in case of violations, ensuring a comfortable environment for both residents and visitors. The interests of Tashkent residents remain a top priority, the administration stated.
