Recently, the companies held negotiations on cooperation, with one of the main topics being the organization of regular flights on the Tashkent–Ulaanbaatar route. According to preliminary information, these flights will be operated using Embraer 190 aircraft.
The issue of direct air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Mongolia was first raised in November 2023. At that time, it was reported that the introduction of these flights would help increase the number of transit flights and boost the supply of Uzbek fruits and vegetables.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh discussed the topic of direct flights during their meeting in the summer of 2024. During that meeting, an agreement on air transportation between the two countries was signed.
Hunnu Air was founded in 2011 and has been operating under its current name since 2013. Its founders include the mining company Mongolyn Alt MAK and Bodi Group. The airline is based at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar and operates flights to Beijing, Manzhouli, Ordos, and Almaty. The company has a fleet of three aircraft, including ATR 72-500 and Embraer 190 models.
Earlier, Kun.uz reported that Uzbekistan and Mongolia plan to implement an electronic system for freight transport permits.
