Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discuss mutual recognition of ID cards
Citizens of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan may soon be able to cross borders using ID cards instead of foreign passports, as both countries work toward this initiative.

With the support of the embassy, representatives from relevant ministries and agencies held an online meeting to explore the recognition of ID cards as official travel documents.
It was emphasized that this initiative aims to simplify travel and strengthen bilateral ties.
Both sides acknowledged the significance of this step in facilitating the movement of citizens, deepening diplomatic relations, and enhancing cooperation in migration policy.
By enabling border crossings with ID cards, the initiative will make travel more convenient and foster closer integration between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, the decision is expected to positively impact trade, economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, and tourism between the two nations.
