Gov’t to introduce new support system for people with disabilities

A new system of support for people with disabilities is set to be implemented in Uzbekistan, with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewing the presentation of the initiative. Key changes include providing assistance based on the "Register of Low-Income Families," allowing low-income families to access support without the need to submit applications or additional documentation.

The list of available assistance will be streamlined, with only the most essential services retained from the original 28. Funding for medical treatments and surgeries will be transferred to the State Health Insurance Fund.

Regional funds will be created to address local social and economic issues. Special attention will be given to children with disabilities, with plans to establish daycare services for children aged 3 to 18. These facilities will operate under a public-private partnership model.

By the end of the year, approximately 2,000 children with severe disabilities are expected to benefit from this support, allowing their mothers to pursue work or education.

A new "Children's Health" system will be launched to coordinate medical and social services for children with disabilities. Care services will receive subsidies, and parents will be exempt from taxes on the cost of these services.

In addition, under the "Register of Low-Income Families," 48,000 people have found jobs, 10,000 have completed training programs, and 14,000 have been granted loans.

The President has directed that support for people with disabilities be strengthened and their integration into society facilitated.
