Uzbekistan and Hong Kong discussing establishing a visa-free regime
Diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan held talks with representatives from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government at its mission in Beijing.

During the meeting, Wong Wei Ki Xarier, Chief Immigration Officer at the mission, discussed bilateral cooperation in consular and legal matters, migration policies in Hong Kong SAR, and future plans to enhance bilateral tourism exchanges.
The talks also addressed Hong Kongās visa policy, the protection of the rights and interests of citizens from both countries, and the expansion of the legal and regulatory framework between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.
It was highlighted that since March 1, 2021, Uzbekistan has had a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens, including those from Hong Kong and Macau, for stays of up to 10 days. Furthermore, it was reported that on December 1, 2024, an agreement on mutual visa exemption between the governments of the Peopleās Republic of China and the Republic of Uzbekistan was signed in Chengdu. The agreement is currently undergoing the necessary domestic legal procedures before coming into force.
Additionally, Uzbekistan expressed its goal to reach an agreement with Hong Kong SAR to exempt its citizens from visa requirements as well.
āThe Hong Kong side is equally interested in strengthening bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan in all areas, enhancing practical outcomes, particularly expanding citizen exchanges, and consistently developing the tourism sector,ā said Wong.
Both sides agreed to continue their discussions to resolve outstanding issues and foster closer collaboration.
