President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Jizzakh region today to inspect the Zomin Technopark Special Industrial Zone, where 31 projects worth $1.2 billion are being developed in partnership with Chinese investors.
The construction of this industrial complex was launched by the president on June 27 last year. Located on 400 hectares, the technopark is designed to host a series of large-scale projects with foreign investment.
Since the launch, essential infrastructure and facilities have been built. Recently, the first enterprise began operations – a $10 million project by Xinjiang Honglin Tiandi to produce concrete products. The facility has created 60 jobs.
A second project, worth $42 million, is nearing completion. Under the Midea brand, it will produce 300,000 household appliances annually and provide employment for 150 people.
The president was briefed on these and other upcoming projects during his visit.
In the first stage, nine projects have already been allocated space in the special industrial zone. Construction is currently underway on another seven projects worth nearly $300 million. These include the production of construction materials, building structures, electrical equipment, and chemical products, as well as the establishment of logistics and training centers.
Once all projects are fully operational, the industrial zone is expected to produce around UZS 5 trillion worth of industrial goods, introduce 15 new types of products, and generate $70 million in export potential. Most importantly, over 5,000 jobs will be created.
The president instructed officials to support investors and accelerate project implementation. He emphasized the importance of training specialists in relevant industries and ensuring youth employment.
