Divorce rates rise while marriage numbers fall in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan recorded an increase in the number of divorces and a decrease in marriages during the first half of 2025, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Between January and June 2025, a total of 23,300 divorces were officially registered across the country. This figure is 800 higher than in the same period of 2024.
Urban areas accounted for the majority of divorces – 14,100 cases or 60.6% – while rural areas saw 9,200 cases or 39.4%.
Regionally, the highest number of divorces was recorded in Tashkent city (1,500), followed by Tashkent region (1,200) and Fergana region (1,200). The lowest number was reported in Navoi region (310 cases).
In contrast, 95,300 marriages were registered in the first half of the year, which is 2,100 fewer than in the same period of 2024 (97,400 marriages).
Of the total marriages, 48,700 (51.1%) were registered in urban areas and 46,600 (48.9%) in rural areas.
