Customs authorities report 34 trillion UZS in revenue as currency and jewelry confiscations soar in H1 2025
Customs revenue reached 34 trillion UZS in the first half of the year, while businesses were granted customs benefits worth 24.6 trillion UZS.

The Customs Committee of Uzbekistan held a board meeting to review the performance of the country’s customs authorities during the first half of 2025, according to the committee's press secretary, Khusan Tangriyev.
From January to June, the volume of foreign trade goods increased by 5%, with exports rising by 7%. The number of processed customs cargo declarations rose by 12%. There was also a significant increase in traffic across customs borders: an additional 165,000 trucks, 376,000 freight railcars, and 3.3 million passengers were recorded.
More than 11,000 entrepreneurs received customs exemptions and preferences totaling 24.6 trillion UZS, while customs payment deferrals amounted to 2.8 trillion UZS.
In total, 34 trillion UZS in customs payments were transferred to the state budget, which, according to officials, met the planned target in full.
Customs authorities uncovered over 19,000 violations related to smuggling and breaches of customs regulations. They prevented the illegal cross-border movement of goods valued at 564 billion UZS, as well as their concealed circulation within the country.
Notably, the volume of seized foreign currency tripled, while confiscated jewelry nearly doubled compared to the same period last year. In addition, customs officers seized 1,247 kilograms of narcotics and 156 kilograms of psychotropic and potent substances during the reporting period.
Thanks to ongoing digitalization efforts, 94% of export declarations and 84% of import declarations were processed via simplified procedures. Among these, 51% of export declarations and 16% of import declarations were processed without any human intervention. More than 26,600 entrepreneurs saved both time and money through this streamlined system.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Customs Committee Akmalkhuja Mavlonov issued directives to further implement artificial intelligence and digital technologies, as well as to strengthen international cooperation in combating illicit financial flows and trade.
