On July 10, the price of AI-80 gasoline rose by 0.5%, reaching 10.19 million UZS per ton. This follows the price crossing the 10 million UZS mark on July 4 for the first time this year, with daily increases continuing since. The price surge comes after the exchange lifted the 5% price cap on AI-80 gasoline ā originally set in relation to the sellerās initial price ā on June 10.
Since the Competition Committee lifted the fuel price ceiling in June 2025 (originally introduced in November 2024), AI-80 gasoline has increased in price by 7.7%. Simultaneously, the volume of sales dropped by nearly 8.6%, falling from 1,805 to 1,650 tons.
Previously, in November 2024, the exchange price of AI-80 gasoline exceeded the psychological threshold of 10 million UZS per ton. In response, the Competition Committee imposed a maximum price limit of 9,377,555.25 UZS per ton. The Bukhara Oil Refinery (BNPZ) remains the primary producer of this automotive fuel.
Back in February, the President of Uzbekistan ordered the mobilization of "all forces and resources" to phase out the use and sale of AI-80 gasoline by the end of 2025. The goal is to transition the public toward fuel that is high-quality, environmentally friendly, and affordable.
