The announcement was made by Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, during a meeting with heads of relevant state and municipal agencies.
According to the Kyrgyz National News Agency Kabar, the meeting addressed over ten issues arising during the construction process, and corresponding instructions were given to relevant government bodies to resolve them promptly.
“This project is not only of infrastructural importance; it is aimed at improving quality of life, fostering economic growth, and strengthening ties between regions and peoples,” stated the Minister.
It is worth noting that the railway segment passing through Kyrgyzstan stretches over 304 kilometers, with the total construction cost estimated at over $4.5 billion.
This project is considered one of the most complex engineering undertakings: approximately 40% of the railway will pass through tunnels and bridges, including the planned construction of 27 tunnels and 41 bridges. Completion of all construction work is scheduled for 2030.
As a reminder, construction of key facilities along the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway began in April. The official groundbreaking ceremony for the railway took place in December last year, during which the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, sent his congratulations to the participants of the event.
