Uzbekistan sees 5-fold growth in university enrollment since 2015
As of the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the total number of students enrolled in higher education institutions across Uzbekistan has reached 1,432,800, according to the National Statistics Committee.

This figure marks an increase of 1,168,500 students – more than 5.4 times – compared to the 2015/2016 academic year.
The number of students enrolled in higher education institutions by academic year is as follows:
- 2015/2016: 264,300 students
- 2016/2017: 268,300 students
- 2017/2018: 297,700 students
- 2018/2019: 360,200 students
- 2019/2020: 441,000 students
- 2020/2021: 571,500 students
- 2021/2022: 808,400 students
- 2022/2023: 1,042,100 students
- 2023/2024: 1,314,500 students
- 2024/2025: 1,432,800 students
It was previously reported that women account for 782,000 of the total student population in Uzbekistan.
