The European Union has included Uzbekistan’s Trade Engine System in its 17th package of sanctions against Russia. The updated sanctions list has been published on the EU’s official website.
Registered in 2022, Trade Engine System is engaged in the wholesale trade of electronic and telecommunications equipment and spare parts. Nasirjon Akbarov is listed as the company’s director and founder.
This marks the fifth Uzbek entity to be sanctioned by the EU since the start of the war in Ukraine. Since 2023, Alfa Beta Creative LLC, GFK Logistics Asia LLC, and Mvizion LLC have been subject to EU sanctions, with Uzstanex LLC added in February 2025.
The EU’s 17th sanctions package targets 75 individuals and legal entities from Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, China, Turkey, the UAE, Serbia, and Vietnam.
Ukraine has also placed several Uzbek companies on its national sanctions list. These include Ohangaroncement, construction equipment rental firm Mercury Renaissance, wood pulp and cellulose producer Raw Materials Cellulose, and the Fergana Chemical Plant (a cotton cellulose production facility in Fergana).
