WWII veterans in Uzbekistan to receive financial rewards, President Mirziyoyev signs decree
Uzbekistan sent more than 1.9 million people to the front during World War II.

According to the Ministry of Defense, during the years of World War II (1939–1945), Uzbekistan had a population of 6.5 million and dispatched over 1.9 million individuals to the front. Of these, 538,000 were killed in action.
During the war, Uzbekistan became an important rear base for the front. A total of 280 new industrial enterprises were established, military production was launched, and the republic sheltered more than 1.5 million evacuees, including 250,000 orphaned children.
As of today, Uzbekistan is home to 82 veterans of World War II and individuals recognized as equivalent to WWII participants. The oldest among them is 114 years old.
Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on honoring World War II veterans. According to the decree, each WWII participant will receive a one-time reward of $10,000, while those equated with WWII veterans will be awarded a one-time payment of 25 million UZS.
