No more licenses: Travel agencies in Uzbekistan to operate under new rules
Uzbekistan is set to abolish the licensing requirement for travel agency operations. Instead, a notification-based system will be introduced, where entities must inform authorities when they start or cease their travel agency activities. The relevant draft law has been approved by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and submitted to the Senate for consideration.
At a recent session of the Legislative Chamber, a draft law developed by the Ministry of Justice — “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Further Improvement of Licensing, Permitting, and Notification Procedures” — was adopted.
According to the Agency for Public Services, the law aims to eliminate 13 types of licenses and permits, while converting 3 types of licenses, including travel agency operations, into a notification-based system.
Specifically, entities engaging in travel agency services will no longer be required to obtain a license. Instead, they will simply need to send a notification to relevant authorities when they begin or end their operations.
The adoption of the draft law is expected to reduce bureaucratic obstacles in the area of licensing and permits.
The law will come into legal force after being approved by the Senate, signed by the president, and officially published in accordance with established procedures.
