Transport Ministry threatens sanctions for misuse of regional transit permits
Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport has issued a warning to carriers regarding the misuse of permits along the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan route. Violators may face restrictions on receiving new permits.
The Ministry addressed managers of international freight transport companies, reminding them of the need to strictly adhere to the rules for using multilateral transport permits on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan route.
According to the Ministry’s statement, these permits are intended exclusively for cargo transportation through designated checkpoints along the route Tashkent — Andijan — Osh — Irkeshtam — Kashgar and back. The permits have been issued within the framework of developing the transport corridor among the three countries.
However, the Ministry reports a growing number of cases where the permits are being misused. Some transporters are using them for shipments solely between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, without traveling the entire route. Such practices violate the established regulations.
The Ministry warned that permits used for unintended purposes will be deemed invalid, and further issuance of such permits to those carriers may be restricted.
