Air Products expands operations in Uzbekistan with new energy projects
Air Products and Chemicals is considering new projects in Uzbekistan, including carbon capture and storage, aviation fuel production, and coal gasification. These plans were discussed during a meeting between the company’s leadership and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade.

On April 2, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Eduardo Menezes, CEO of Air Products and Chemicals (USA), ahead of the "Central Asia – European Union" summit, according to the ministry’s press service.
Laziz Kudratov highlighted the company’s successful track record in Uzbekistan. Since 2019, Air Products and Chemicals has implemented three major investment projects in the country, with a total value of $1.15 billion. These projects include hydrogen production at the Fergana Oil Refinery and liquid carbon dioxide production at Navoiazot JSC.
Currently, the company is carrying out oxygen and nitrogen production projects at the Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) complex in Bukhara, with investments exceeding $200 million. The complex is designed to supply methanol and olefins for industries such as plastics, automotive manufacturing, and construction.
The ministry also noted that new projects related to carbon capture and storage, aviation fuel production, and coal gasification are under consideration.
At the end of the meeting, both parties confirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation and developed effective mechanisms for implementing the new projects.
