Kaja Kallas to visit Uzbekistan on March 27

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, will visit Uzbekistan on March 27, according to the EU delegation.

Kallas will chair the 20th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting, which will take place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, with the participation of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

In addition to preparations for the first-ever EU-Central Asia Summit, set to be held in Samarkand on April 3-4, 2025, the agenda includes discussions on a wide range of topics. These include the regional impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine, transport and digital connectivity, critical raw materials, energy and water resources, trade, people-to-people contacts, education, and research.

Before the ministerial meeting, Kaja Kallas will hold bilateral talks with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, as well as with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Following this, the High Representative will travel to Tashkent, where she is scheduled to meet with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Kallas will then head to Almaty, where on Friday, March 28, she will meet with Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu. A bilateral meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is also planned.
