Tashkent metro to extend to TTZ area with 10 new stations

Plans are underway to construct 10 stations reaching the Tashkent Tractor Plant area.

The Tashkent Metro will expand its network to the Tashkent Tractor Plant (TTZ) area, with the addition of 10 new stations. This announcement came from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 20 during a visit to review ongoing construction and urban development projects in Tashkent.

During the visit, projects aimed at enhancing public transportation in the capital were also examined. The extension of the Tashkent Metro to the TTZ area has been a key focus. Previously, the president had instructed officials to reassess initial proposals and explore alternative options. Based on the updated plan, the Chilanzar line will be extended to the TTZ area, incorporating 10 additional stations. This new branch will serve 30 neighborhoods and a population of 148,000.

President Mirziyoyev also visited the newly built High Town City complex in Tashkent’s Yunusabad district. This expansive development includes a shopping and entertainment center, a business hub, a hotel, and modern residential units.

“Thanks to the favorable conditions created for investors, the private sector’s role in the economy is growing. Direct investments are fueling promising projects in industry, construction, trade, and services,” the president’s press service reported. “The High Town City complex in Yunusabad is a prime example. Fully funded by $510 million in foreign investment, it features a shopping and entertainment center, a business hub, a hotel, and modern housing.”

The president toured the complex’s shopping center, which spans four floors and houses stores, including outlets of well-known brands. Restaurants, cafes, entertainment zones, sports facilities, and cinemas are available to the public, with underground parking provided. “In short, this is a place where people can shop, relax, exercise, and enjoy their time — all conveniences have been considered. The complex can serve 5,000 visitors daily and has created jobs for 1,500 people,” the press service added.

Acknowledging the economic significance and convenience of the complex, Mirziyoyev emphasized that supporting investors and entrepreneurs would remain a strategic priority of state policy. He instructed officials to focus on branding national products and promoting them in international markets.

A cozy bookstore within the shopping center caught the president’s attention. He praised the initiative and suggested establishing similar compact bookstores at metro stations and waiting areas.

At the complex’s playground, Mirziyoyev warmly engaged with children, noting that all current efforts are for the country’s future. He stressed the importance of children excelling in their studies and developing their intellectual and creative potential.

Plans are also in place to construct a 24-story, five-star hotel within the complex, featuring 250 rooms and the capacity to accommodate 430 guests at once. The hotel will include large and small conference halls, swimming pools, restaurants, and shops with modern amenities.

The president was presented with a project for modern residential buildings at the site, which will consist of 28 high-rise buildings with 1,500 apartments. The complex’s courtyard will be car-free and landscaped, featuring a kindergarten, playground, tennis court, and underground parking. The area will be fully covered by Wi-Fi, and the buildings will be equipped with noiseless elevators.

Another project involves constructing high-rise residential buildings, commercial spaces, and service facilities near the Chirchiq River in the Bektemir district. This development is expected to accelerate urbanization in the area and establish a new urban center.
