President Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze

On March 5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and his delegation, who were on an official visit to Uzbekistan. The two leaders held discussions on strengthening cooperation in key sectors, including trade, economy, investment, transport and logistics, tourism, and culture.

The high-ranking guest conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, to Mirziyoyev, and the two sides then discussed expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.

It was noted with particular delight that relations at the level of parliaments and governments have become more active. In 2024, mutual trade increased by 50%, the number of joint ventures and freight turnover grew. Direct air flights are being carried out between the capitals. A digital bank has been established in Uzbekistan with the participation of Georgian investors. In the humanitarian field, Uzbekistan's Culture and Cinema Days were successfully held in Tbilisi last year.

The results of the recent meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission held in Tashkent were highly praised during the conversation.

"It is important to take coordinated measures to maintain the pace of trade, ensure balance in export and import, promote industrial cooperation projects, effectively utilize the transport and transit potential, and actively involve the regions of both countries in economic cooperation," the statement said.

Furthermore, special attention was given to expanding partnerships and exchanges in digitalization and the development of tourism infrastructure.

To implement the agreements reached, it was agreed to enhance cooperation between the governments of Uzbekistan and Georgia in the future.

The Georgian Prime Minister arrived in Uzbekistan on March 4. At the beginning of his visit, he went to the "New Uzbekistan" park and laid a wreath at the Independence Monument.

Afterwards, Irakli Kobakhidze visited the Technopark and held meetings with Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Chair of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismailov, and others.
