Senate approves state policy concept on religious affairs
The Senate of Oliy Majlis has approved the concept on "Ensuring Citizens’ Freedom of Conscience and State Policy in the Religious Sphere." The document will come into force once signed by the president.

On February 20, during the fourth plenary session of the Senate, the law "On Approval of the Concept of Ensuring Citizens’ Freedom of Conscience and State Policy in the Religious Sphere of Uzbekistan" was reviewed. Senators unanimously supported the law.
It was noted that a parliamentary commission is planned to be established to oversee the implementation of the main tasks outlined in the document through parliamentary supervision.
For reference, the draft concept, developed by the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, was conceptually approved in the first reading on January 31 and was submitted for public discussion until February 9.
During the public discussion, more than 400 comments, suggestions, and recommendations were received from citizens, of which over 200 were reported to be positive.
On February 11, at the next plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the draft law and the concept were adopted in the second and third readings.
The document will come into force once it is signed by the president.
