During the inspections, the Ministry identified illegal use of trademarks belonging to private companies, including Xon Saroy, Click, and Uzum. Notably, in January, a banquet hall was fined 37.5 million UZS for displaying the name "Xonsaroy," which the regulator found to be confusingly similar to the trademark of the construction company Xon Saroy.
Additionally, the Ministry discovered illegal manufacturing of counterfeit versions of several medicines, including "Lacto-G," "Biseptol," "Desiferol," "Magne B6," and "Smecta."
As a result, the intellectual property violations were addressed, and administrative penalties were imposed on the offenders.
Nusratillo Sulaymonov, a Ministry official, reported that the Georgian company GM Pharma had filed a complaint about the drug "Lacto-G." During the inspection, the regulator found phonetic similarities that could confuse consumers with the original name of the drug.
The Ministry reminded that the unauthorized use of another company's trademark can lead to fines for legal entities ranging from 100 to 200 BCU (equivalent to 37.5 to 75 million UZS).
Last year, the Ministry of Justice successfully prevented the illegal distribution of "Biseptol" and "Imudon," destroyed the counterfeit products, and imposed fines on the violators. Additionally, the Ministry issued a warning to the Ministry of Health regarding counterfeit medicines and violations during their state registration.
