Khorezm Transport Department official arrested for accepting $80,000 bribe

The chief specialist of the Transport Department in Khorezm was arrested for accepting an advance payment of $80,000 after demanding a total of $135,000 in exchange for transferring a 960-square-meter land plot in Urgench to an entrepreneur's name through his contacts in the cadastral authorities. The official also promised to arrange the necessary documentation for the construction of a multi-story residential building on the land.

According to the State Security Service, the land plot was originally owned by another citizen and was used for providing transportation services.

A criminal case has been initiated against this individual under Part 4, Article 168, and Part 3, Article 28, 211 of the Criminal Code. Investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, in Fergana Region, law enforcement agencies conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the head specialist from the Agro-Industrial Complex Oversight Inspection in Yazyavan district. The official, abusing his position, created false technical passports and labels for non-existent construction machinery. This was done in exchange for $8,700 to increase the rating of a contractor company’s profile on the “Shaffof qurilish” (Transparent Construction) national information system and to assist with its submission for tender purposes.

A criminal case has been initiated against this individual under Part 3, “v” of Article 168, and Part 1 of Article 28, 211 of the Criminal Code. Investigations are ongoing.
