Abdusalom Azizov steps down as UFA President
The former head of the State Security Service, Abdusalom Azizov, has stepped down from his position as President of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA). His duties have been assigned to UFA First Vice President Ravshan Ermatov.

An extraordinary election Congress of the Uzbekistan Football Association is scheduled to be held on February 22.
"According to the Association's charter, until the Congress is held, the responsibilities of the UFA President will be carried out by the UFA First Vice President," the organization announced.
Abdusalom Azizov had been leading the UFA since July 15, 2019.
He served as the Minister of Internal Affairs from January to September 2017 and as Minister of Defense from September 2017 to February 2019. Afterward, he led the State Security Service for five years, until he was dismissed in late November 2024.
In December, he was appointed as Deputy to the Advisor on Youth Affairs (Ruslanbek Davletov), who advises the President of Uzbekistan on socio-political, religious-educational, and youth matters.
