President Mirziyoyev attends CIS informal summit in Russia
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the informal meeting of the CIS heads of state on December 25 in St. Petersburg, Russia. The meeting, hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, was also attended by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The leaders reviewed key outcomes of joint activities in 2024 and discussed priority tasks for multilateral cooperation in the upcoming year. A significant emphasis was placed on enhancing regional trade and cooperation, particularly by addressing and removing barriers in mutual trade.
Discussions also touched on prospects for developing partnerships in new areas, including the establishment of engineering schools, advancements in internet technologies, the big data industry, the creative economy, "green" energy, peaceful nuclear energy, and the implementation of digital solutions.
Additionally, the leaders exchanged views on strengthening practical cooperation within the CIS framework to address regional and international issues. Topics included responses to common threats and challenges of mutual importance.
The parties underscored the commitment of CIS member states to fostering deeper collaboration and pursuing innovative solutions to promote economic, technological, and security initiatives across the region.
