Tashkent region customs prevents large-scale currency smuggling
Authorities have intercepted an attempt to smuggle a substantial amount of foreign currency out of the country. The incident occurred at the "Farhad" customs checkpoint in Tashkent region, according to a statement from the Regional Customs Committee’s press service.

During routine customs checks, a passenger traveling to a neighboring country raised the suspicions of customs officers. Upon further inspection, officials discovered undeclared cash totaling 1,350,000 Russian rubles hidden in the individual’s jacket pockets. The passenger had neither declared the currency as required by law nor mentioned it during the standard oral interview conducted at the checkpoint.
The case is now under investigation by customs authorities to determine the full circumstances surrounding the violation.
Under Uzbekistan’s legislation, individuals are permitted to transport foreign currency equivalent to up to 100 million UZS without restriction, provided they comply with customs control procedures. Any failure to declare amounts exceeding this threshold constitutes a breach of customs regulations.
