Uzbekistan hosting international conference on Islam as a religion of peace

Today, October 27, the international conference titled "Islam is a Religion of Peace and Kindness," kicked off in Tashkent. The event brings together over 70 leaders from international organizations, religious figures, muftis, and prominent scholars from 22 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and France.

The conference commenced with welcoming remarks from representatives of Uzbekistan, who emphasized the importance of preserving Islamic heritage and fostering a spirit of tolerance in the face of contemporary globalization. They particularly highlighted the contributions of Islamic scholars such as Al-Khwarizmi and Imam Bukhari in the advancement of global knowledge and spiritual values.

The event will feature panel discussions centered on three key themes: the preservation of Hanafi and Maturidi traditions, the search for balance between religion and secularism, and practical measures to combat extremism.

Participants have expressed their commitment to active cooperation in strengthening peace and mutual understanding. The conference will conclude on October 16 in the ancient city of Khiva, where a final declaration is expected to be adopted.

The conference underscores a collective effort to address pressing issues in the modern world while reinforcing the core values of Islam as a religion of peace and goodwill.
