At a meeting of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism, the law “On the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Treaty on the principles of activities of states in the exploration and use of outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies (London, Moscow and Washington, January 27, 1967)” was preliminary reviewed.

According to the information service of the parliamentary upper house, 114 countries have so far joined the treaty. This treaty consists of 17 articles covering the basics of the legal status of outer space.
The senators especially emphasized that the country’s accession to the international document will open up opportunities for Uzbekistan’s participation in the exploration and use of outer space, free entry into all space territories and celestial bodies, as well as participation in international space projects, exchange of resources and knowledge.
Also, the accession by law to the Treaty on the principles of activities of states in the exploration and use of outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, serves the development of the space legal system of our country on the basis of generally recognized principles and norms of international law.
