Illegal use of electricity and gas for commercial purposes defined as theft
In accordance with the law signed by the President, changes and additions were made to the Administrative Responsibility Code and the Criminal Code.
According to the addendum to the Criminal Code, arbitrarily connecting to public electricity, heat, gas or water supply networks for commercial purposes or intentionally damaging electricity, natural gas, cold or hot water metering devices, including their seals, or robbery by external intervention in order to change the indicators of accounting devices has been defined as theft and such kind of offenses can be punished with up to 5 years of imprisonment.
According to the addendum to the Administrative Responsibility Code, the following administrative sanctions may be applied to persons who commit this offense in a small amount: a fine in the amount of 10 to 20 BCAs (from 3 million to 6 million soums); administrative detention for up to 15 days.
