Court fines Yulduz Usmonova for copyright infringement

On September 20, 2021, poet Yulchi Ruziyev filed a civil lawsuit against Yulduz Usmonova, claiming that the singer used his poem without the poet’s prior consent and thus infringed his rights. He demanded compensation for the violation of his rights and for moral damage.
According to the press service of the Tashkent City Court, the case was heard on October 29 and the court ruled that Yulduz Usmonova should pay 50 million soums for moral damage and 500 BCAs (135 million soums) for copyright infringement.
The court gave the parties time to reach an agreement. However, no agreement was reached until the end of the trial.
In accordance with the Civil Procedure Code, Yulduz Usmonova has one month to appeal the decision.
