New mosque opens in Tashkent
On the initiative of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the opening ceremony of “Oltintepa” mosque in Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent was held on Dec. 6. The mosque can accommodate up to 2300 people.
The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, imams, media representatives and the public.
Construction of the mosque began in August 2016. It is completed in two years and four months and is built through hashar, tradition of voluntary work to benefit the community.
The mosque is covered with large blue dome, has a spacious courtyard and wide rows for people to perform their prayers comfortably.
